Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly?

Grace Kelly was the one girl in the world who never took a bad photo.

She was a truly a classical beauty.

And what a story...American girl from a blue collar Philadelphia family grows up to be a famous movie actress, meets a prince and becomes a princess! A true fairy tale or was it?

Getting a kiss from Marlon Brando with her Oscar in 1955. (At the time this was the most expensive gown in Academy Award history as the silk alone cost $4,000. Made for Grace by costumer Edith Head, she wore it to a premiere, the Oscars and for a cover shoot to get her moneys worth of it.)

Word on the street is that Nicole Kidman is playing Grace in an upcoming biopic.

Here's a still from it below...

The thing is Nicole is playing a 25 year old Grace and Nicole is in her 40s...

Just sayin'..However,  Nicole seems to be working the fillers and botox, so maybe she can pull it off. Some say a younger actress should have been chosen.

More film stills...

What do you think?

I think her hair looks a lot like Grace.

Apparently Nicole really wanted this part.

People have suggested Charlize Theron or

January Jones look more like Grace.

I kind of thought Gwyneth Paltrow's face looks most similar ..

It should be fun to see Nicole as Princess Grace. It's supposedly set in Monaco, after her marriage.

I can never tire of looking at Grace Kelly photographs.

Some of my favorite photos of Grace...

In High Society with Bing Crosby.

And with Cary Grant in To Catch a Thief. Her wardrobe in this Hitchcock film was fabulous.

Grace made scarves, pearls and tortoise shell glasses hallmarks of the well-bred young American.

Could there be a more copied wedding dress ever? Or a more lovely one?

With the purse (the iconic Hermes' Kelly bag named for her) and the prince.

Taking snaps in what looks like Pucci.

Sailing in Monaco, but still looking like the American girl in white jeans and a cable knit sweater.

As a young mom with Caroline and Albert and Prince Rainier.

Beautiful!

What do you think? who would be best to portray Grace?

  1. I think Gwyneth Paltrow's would of been the best
choice, a natural beauty. They both are very classy. Nicole Kidman is to old and too botox looking... I think Nicole will distract from the
    reality of the movie...

  2. I have to say I'm surprised but I see a resemblance. I need some filler and botox as well :) I'm really not a NK fan though. Never have been. I do wonder how Gwyneth would have done in the role... great post and High Society is one of my fave movies!

  3. Ok, first of all - these photos are magnificent - Grace Kelly was so pretty. That wedding dress is DIVINE.

I think Gwyneth looks the most like Grace but I think January Jones would have been a good choice to play Grace.

    Great post!

    1. Gwyneth has a face more the shape of Grace so she looks more like her...January Jones is young and would be good too... Love that wedding dress!

      Thanks LR!

  4. You always find the best photos! Where do you get them. Nicole is a fabulous actress but too botoxy these days I think. Gwyneth and the others are too famous and iconic themselves. They need someone undiscovered and the same age that Grace really was.

    1. Jodie, I collect them for a while, usually from all over the net..I do think an unknown would be better. All these actresses are so famous and not able to leave their personas enough..Also, we forget she was in her early 20s!

    2. And Nicole is 40-plus and counterintuitively the botox makes her look older I think...

  6. Ummmm.. NO ..not working for me. I think Charlize Theron would be a much better choice. NK is too weathered looking.. even with all of her cosmetic augmentation (she's loaded).

  7. I don't think anybody can play Grace Kelly, she was much too beautiful. Nobody can do her justice and I'd much rather watch a documentary than a biopic, especially about her ! Just one precision : The Kellys were not a blue collar family. Her paternal grandfather had built a large fortune and her mother came from a distinguished aristocratic Prussian family. Thanks for the interesting post and for sharing all those beautiful photos ; I never get tired of looking at all that perfection !xoxo

    1. Interesting! I always learn so much from my readers... I never heard that about her mother, but they make so much about her father being a Philadelphia bricklayer and blue collar! Wonder if he just ran the business.. Then again to aristocrats, working any job was considered undesirable...Wasn't she so beautiful? I agree about a documentary...I'd love to see more of the real Grace on film.

    1. Thanks so much Heather! I would love to visit Monaco one day..I agree that she still is a model of chic classic style. I don't think anyone can ever be as beautiful and elegant as she was.

  11. What an enjoyable post! I love looking at Grace Kelly... she was exquisite. I also adore Nicole K and am sure she'll do a wonderful job, but actually I think her friend Naomi Watts looks a lot more like Grace. Gwyneth, less so...

  12. I think Naomi Watts will be perfect to play Grace Kelly. Nicole's face has changed so much since she started using Botox but she is a superb actress. I admire Grace Kelly for her style and beauty. I attended the Grace Kelly Exhibition here in Toronto and it was fabulous. Too bad her life ended so early.
