Monday Musings

Hello friends! Starting the week with a ton of things on my to-do-list, but wanted to take a minute to share a few things I'm loving now, and to ease you into Monday..

Quick turkey and Rice Soup. Perfect for a Monday night dinner. I made this last night in about 10 minutes and it was a hit. via Martha Stewart

Thanksgiving is on my mind now, my table and what to wear this fall.

I'd like to recreate something like this look above for my table. The persimmons and old silver are gorgeous together.

It's gotten downright cold here in Northern California! I finally took out all my sweaters and boots this weekend, and sadly stored all the pool toys too. Sizing up the old wardrobe, I am in need of a warm everyday coat and I also want a pair of short suede tan booties for running about.

Love this worn so casually and open. The length is great too. Similar ones here and here.

How cute is this? Tan or light suede boots looks flattering with lighter jeans. I also love the less dressy more casual vibe they give. The closest I've seen to these tobacco colored booties are this pair from Nordstrom.  Also these skinnies look similar and these Citizens at Anthro are pretty cute. For a long loose fit striped T nothing beats the selection and quality at Boden and this one is almost identical.

These Sam Edelman from Nordstrom, look perfect for all the different pant lengths in your closet, and aren't too high for wearing daily.

For casual and chilly days, I would love a statement sweater (or two), that are perfect just alone with jeans and my boots.

This look from The Sartorialist, is so California fall. Boden has the closest I can find right now.

One more thing I love, these House of Harlow pendants with leather!! They are so fun and a cute gift idea too.

Happy Monday. Stay warm in the cold sun today and make soup!

x

Kim

  1. That Turkey and Rice soup was stupendous. Add a grilled cheese sandwich (or two) to it and you've got yourself a manly meal.

    1. I have a pair of Sam Edelman boots - like the ones Kim is showing but a little higher in the heel and has buckle detail. I am actually wearing them today on my blog. They are super comfortable and really well made. I am very happy with mine!

    2. Cindy, Just tried them on at Nordys yesterday and they seem super comfy… I have to say I agree. No more uncomfy shoes or clothes anymore for me either. xx

  8. The soup looks so comforting for this time of year. I shall have to check out the recipe and make it as the temperature here is rapidly falling. It was frosty yesterday morning! The tan boots and those Sam Edelman ones are both gorgeous and such versatile colours too.

I want a bowl of that soup right now!
And taupe booties are so great for fall. I bought a pair a few weeks ago and wear them all the time.
Can't wait to see you again next week!! Maybe we can shop for taupe booties for you ;)

  10. Kim - The geometric Fair Isle sweater reminds me of the sweater hunt Daughter and I are currently on... hitting all the discount and thrift/consignment shops. So far I have found a white cotton cable reminiscent of a fisherman's knit and a red and white Ralph Lauren snowflake pattern (also heavy cotton).

Daughter is collecting for her future weather in college (yea! Oregon State University). I lucked onto an "ugly" Halloween themed sweater for her - so now she's hoping to find a Christmas ugly too.

Your photo behind the camera is wonderful!

    1. Linda, How fun! I love your daughter's sense of humor with style. Very cool. I have to admit wishing I had one of those ugly Xmas sweaters just to be obnoxious and wear!

Ralph always seems to have some take on the Fair Isle. His originals were the best!
Thanks for stopping by Linda! xx

  14. Ok, I so need to make that soup. It looks amazing and the fact that it just takes 10 minutes to whip up is even better. My kids love broth based soups loaded with meat, noodles or rice and veggies. So can you please be my stylist? I absolutely love every outfit that you picked out, especially that statement sweater. I'm so going to go out find me a statement sweater! :) I'm loving this cooler weather as well, but today felt like summer :) xoxo, Jackie
