Why I Heart Autumn . . .

Today is probably the prettiest fall say so far here in Northern California! Every tree that can has turned the brightest colors and the winds are blowing everything around. Walks are imperative right now to fully appreciate the beauty about.

Shockingly, a few radio stations are beginning their holiday music programs next Tuesday! What? When an Instagrammer posted Rudolf and Christmas trees at a local store complaining, his responses were mostly,"Christmas is never too early,"and the like. At my local grocery and the shops the holiday tunes are already blasting…I know, I've already got a holiday gift list going in my head, and a card photo to take, but hold on.

Hello It's Me

The best thing about fall is it stops you in your tracks and makes you slow down. Seriously, it is so gorgeous you can't help pausing to take it all in. Christmas sadly, is all about hurry and tick off those boxes and jam it all in. It's coming, but why rush it? There's also some nice down time after Thanksgiving, time off that's a bit of a small gift before the avalanche. No way am I spending those days shopping!

With that thought, I'm presenting you all the fall loveliness I've been gathering for a while. Here's to autumn!! Christmas, you wait your turn. Don't you know how to queue up?

I've heard pinecones called winter's roses. Lovely!

How fab is this look? Similar lightweight pumpkin scarf by Echo here.  I'd love to have a short tan jackets like hers. I found this at Nordstrom and this almost exact match at Neimans and also this darker version.  The leopard pumps are a classic and cute versions are  at Nordstrom and by Ivanka Trump and also loving this J Crew pair I tried on though still a bit spendy, but are the prettiest version yet. ..The link goes to the black and white version, so you need to click on the houndstooth color.

More Ralph Lauren. How darling is this?

I'm trying to include a few guys this time. I know they read too and I'm afraid they get left out.

  2. Gorgeous post! Makes me feel like putting on a fuzzy sweater and books and going shopping (then curling up in front of a fireplace with a good book.) Do you know where the pic that looks like a village in France with the vineyards is? I love it!

    1. Margo, Thank you.I love that curl up feeling and it's like that this weekend! The photo is from Pinterest and it's origin does not specify, only that it is a Vineyard in Provence. Isn't it gorgeous? So glass you stopped by!

  3. Ralph Lauren does know how to pick 'em! I used to like autumn but truthfully because I live in London and the summers are too short and yet the winters are long I just view autumn as the buffer zone. Also the autumn here is so erratic I never know what to wear! Sorry to be a bummer Kim but I think if I lived in certain areas of the States I would love it because growing up in Korea it used to be my fave season! xx

    1. Naomi, I have heard the falls and winters in Korea are gorgeous. We have a lot of expat Korean families here in our town and I think they miss the seasons there! I guess here our fall is pretty short so we try to savor it.

    1. Yes, the Christmas lights bother me too. Someone here had them doing them on his house before Halloween! Crazy. Then you start to get a bit worried you're behind on things!
Thanks so much for the note! xx

  9. You have done so well to gather together so many inspiring autumnal images and I love the way you have included everything from nature, fashion and food and you even remembered the men! My favourite photo is defintely the first with the coordinating car!! We collected giant pine cones in the forest in France a few years ago and getting them out at this time of year with seasonal scented candles immediately makes the house seem more cosy. So many stylish outfits here too. I agree about that adorable haircut and what a fabulous scarf too! Great post, Kim!

  11. I have a hard time with anything Christmas before the day after Thanksgiving. All of the decorations in stores is killing me. lol Such beautiful pictures Kim! I adore those tan boots in the seersucker and saddles photo. This is a miracle as almost everything I own is black and I am trying, unsuccessfully, to break away from that. Looking forward to your next post!

  12. ah, your Pinterest board was a sneak preview to this post. I laughed when I had said to myself, "oh thank you Kim" (viewing wader man) and then scrolled down to see your message!

  13. Great photos and inspiration -- now, for some reason, your new entries aren't showing up in my blogger reader....hmmn......I will have to find out what's going on with that! PS. Have fun in SF with Adrienne and Heather!

  14. Just discovered your blog and am drooling over your photos! Absolute eye candy! I adore autumn and only wish it would last longer. I'm in Walnut Creek and as you know, autumn doesn't last long in California as the summer drags on way too long.

  16. Love Autumn too Kim, I have a good reason to get my Christmas shopping over early as I don't have much time in late Nov and Dec so I'm officially given special shopping dispensation!
Too right you shouldn't leave the men out.....now where's my fishing gear!?
