Oscar de la Renta at the de Young

I was up at the deYoung Museum in San Francisco today to catch the Oscar de la Renta exhibit. I have loved pretty clothing my whole life and Oscar was the maestro of all things beautiful. I've dreamed of wearing his dresses. This show is big and beautiful and wonderfully curated by Andre Leon Talley of Vogue. The 130 ensembles are stunning. Many come from the archives of Oscar's fashion house and others are lent by his longtime friends and devotees like Lynn Wyatt and Anna Wintour. There are dresses worn by First Ladies Nancy Regan, Laura Bush and Hilary Clinton as well as celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker and Amy Adams.

This exhibit is grouped by Oscar's many different influences- Dr Zhivago, the Far East, Spain, and the garden. You'll see his Red Carpet creations, along with video. The garden room is my particular favorite with images of the garden of his Connecticut home along with some of the most wearable and beautiful striped confections. There are dresses that transcend time -looking as wearable today as they were in the 1960's. I loved his slinky dresses from the famous 'Battle of Versailles,' fashion showdown in 1970's as I did a Marie Antoinette inspired frock crafted for Kristen Dunst to wear in Vogue. There was so much to take in. The beauty was in the fantastic details. Oscar knew what all women wanted was to look beautiful and how could one not wearing any of these works of art?

Some of my favorites from this show...

Anthropologie's Pretty Spring Dresses Midi to Maxis

Yesterday I had a chance to grab dinner with a dear friend at San Jose's Santana Row and afterwards we wandered over to Anthropologie to see what was new. Sometimes you just love everything a store is carrying at a moment and this was one of them. Anthropologie has always been strong in it's romantic looking clothes and the spring dress selection is especially fetching. I'm not the biggest maxi wearer, but I know a lot of my girlfriends like the ease of them and I'm starting to as well. You can relax and feel pretty in these, no perfect legs or tan needed.

Here are some of the best maxis and midis from Anthro's site.

This Botanique Maxi is just lovely.

I like the flowy look of this Soho Maxi and the print.

Get Ready For Spring at Trina Turk in Burlingame With Me!

Happy weekend! Thanks to a few weeks of beautiful weather here in Northern California I've been in a spring mindset. I'm looking forward to wearing sandals and dresses and lighter and prettier things soon. Fortunately, I am doing another spring event this year with the lovely Trina Turk boutique in Burlingame next Saturday, March 12, from 10-1.

We collaborated last year and many of you were able to stop in and see how beautiful Trina's collection is in person. The quality of the clothes, many which are made in California, is wonderful. I also love the fun bags, shoes, and jewelry that pop with her collections. If you are thinking of Easter or a special event, this is your go-to spot for a frock. And if a holiday or beach getaway is coming you can check out her latest swim, coverups, totes and hats. Best of all, the Trina boutique in Burlingame will be giving 20% off any of the regular priced merchandise just for Northern California Style friends who come to this event. If your unable to make it, and there's something you've been wanting you can call ahead of the event (number below), and have them ring it for you and ship it or I can get it for you and deliver myself if your in the South Bay. I'd hate for anyone to miss out on getting the 20% which they don't do often and especially with the new Spring collection, which just hit stores.

I drove up to Burlingame last week to check out the new looks and took a few snaps to give you a peek. See for yourself how gorgeous her things are.
